For
most small and medium sized organizations, the development of an
IT strategy involves little more than choosing technologies to solve
the most pressing business issues at hand. At InnerWest TekPartners,
we call this the "bottom up" approach. Unfortunately,
t his approach often leads to expensive short -term fixes that create
new problems as the organization changes. When we are engaged to
help our clients craft an IT strategy, we employ a "top down"
approach which entails linking the organizations' business strategies
to the systems that enable it to function and then to the people,
processes and technologies that support those systems.
